While the Ranger 96 did really well last year, the 98 found it more difficult to score high in snow conditions that required a stiffer ski.
Like the Bonafide, it would probably have done better if the snow conditions had not been so bad. It nonetheless remains a good ski that we would recommend for average to good skiers.

• Performance more limited at high speeds
• Grip could be better
• Less convincing performance in powder
• NB ProSkiLab™: the 2016 all mountain 30/70 ski review conditions (despite the date being pushed back several times) were exceptionally bad: e.g. transformed snow, crusting off-piste, hard pack on the piste. In these conditions, more rigid skis with better grip and better skimming power in uneven snow conditions tend to do better

The ideal freeride ski if you want to carve a track to the nearest millimeter since the Ranger 98 TI is extremely agile in all situations thanks to its technology, the carbon nose, the aerodynamic shape and the Air Tec TI.
