A good multi-purpose ski, with a distinct preference for long-radius turns but somewhat lacking in punch, the Head Rev 85 is a ski that we recommend to skiers insearch of an effective, versatile ski.

Review: Pros

• Head's Rev 85 is a serious, reliable ski. In terms of handling, it is extremely forgiving and sound, and performs as expected with no hidden surprises. It is very versatile, adapting easily to all snow types, including powder. Our testers noted a distinct preference for long-radius turns, an area in which the ski performed particularly well.

Review: Cons

• While globally effective, the Rev 85 lacks character. Its lumbering feel and lack of responsiveness tend to put a damper on the skiing experience. Turn initiations and edge-to-edge transitions are long, due in part to the width of the ski.
