K2 is a new entrant in the ProSkiLab™ ski-test programme, and our testers were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the products submitted for testing. The Amp 80 XTI was no exception to the rule, and was recommended by our testers in the Advanced category. The ski - "almost perfect", according to one of our testers - perfectly reconciles performance, accessibility and versatility, and is highly recommended for a wide range of users (from intermediate to expert) looking for a comfortable, easy-to-handle ski that performs well in all types of conditions.

Review: Pros

• Delivering a smooth ride on soft snow and great grip on hardpack, the Amp 80 XTI (K2) is at home on all types of terrains and in all types of manoeuvres. In short, it is efficient in all domains. Its outstanding performance in turning manoeuvres, and its excellent grip, are facilitated by its rigid tail. Apart from its excellent performance, it is also a ski that is readily accessible on the whole and easy to get used to. Our testers found the ski comfortable and tolerant, with good ski-to-snow contact.

Review: Cons

• Although globally accessible and comfortable, the Amp 80 XTI does not readily lend itself to manoeuvres performed with the skis flat on the snow. Performance improves when the ski is manoeuvred on its edges and skiing forward (rigid tail). Consequently, it is aimed at skiers who have already reached a minimum level of proficiency.
