Stöckli Stormrider 85 Motion review 2020

BEST SKI
Best ski 2020

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

The legendary Stormrider series from Stöckli continues to rack up the points this year. The women's Stormrider 85, on the podium last year for its "accessibility/performance", has stepped up to this year to take the top spot: our "Best ski".

It's a ski which is at ease on any terrain, in any conditions. The piste performance in particular is excellent. The Stormrider 85 is fun, grippy, stable and solid. This ski needs no instructions, it is "easy to tame" and you can feel it's going to be a fun ride within the first few metres.

It is its element in the off-piste, whether that means riding through powder or chopping up the variable.

A genuine "all snow, all terrain" ski - just like its brothers in the men's range - it is excellent at adapting to changes in terrain.

At around 1,000 euros with bindings, it's expensive, but you get your money's worth.

The Stöckli Stormrider 85 is an excellent match for skiers from good to expert level who are looking for a responsive ski that is reliable on groomed pistes but is capable of holding its own when venturing into different terrain.

Manufacturer's remarks

Rocker technology allows this ski to float through powder, glide easily on groomed pistes and carve comfortably.

A core of balsa and fuma bring real lightness and durability.

The Stormrider 85 is THE all-round ski, at ease in powder, it also performs like a piste ski on hardpacked snow.

Dynamic, with an excellent grip, it retains stability at high speeds.

For good to expert skiers who are looking for a solid ski which combines reliability on piste with a freeride spirit!
