Rossignol Hero Master M21 review 2017

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

There's no getting away from it: the Hero Master with its R21 World Cup aluminum plate thrilled the reviewers.
The level of performance is extremely high and the ski is a real powerhouse. This model from Rossignol is incredibly incisive with fast turn initiation and great precision. Turns are carved with a scalpel and, once anchored, the Hero Master is absolutely unshakeable. Grip and stability are quite simply exceptional. The ski feels like it's fixed on a rail, totally steady even in dynamic turns on hard pack at very high speeds. The reliability of the push-off ("a solid ski under foot" as one reviewer said) in all situations is one of the main reasons for the enjoyment you get out of it. One of the reviewers said they had a "feeling of invulnerability".

Review: Pros

  • A remarkably incisive ski
  • Excellent overall performance
  • Superior grip and turn performance

Review: Cons

  • Requires a certain degree of technical skills and physical engagement

Manufacturer's remarks

Developed in Rossignol's racing department workshops, the HERO MASTER series features nothing but the best in terms of technology and sidecuts.
FIS skis are subject to regulations, while MASTER skis are not!!
The HERO MASTER, often given awards by the specialised press, is a pure joy to ride, especially because of the Prop Tech technology (in several colours this year for a snazzier look and to make it easier to identify the radius).
They offer fantastic handling power when entering turns, precision and exceptional bounce at the end of the turn! With fantastic stability and power, the ski is nonetheless playful and accessible for good and very good skiers. On steep slopes and walls of ice, you'll exceed your wildest dreams and for a short time will feel like Carlos Janka carving with incredible precision.
Designed for experts but also recommended for former competition skiers (all those who've put away their numbers but still use their helmets!).
Unfortunately, this ski, designed for long turns, cannot be used in FIS races.
Delivered exclusively with the new LOOK SPX 15 RockerFlex bindings (with a smaller mounting zone and partially suspended heelpiece for greater ski flex and control) or SPX 14 RaceFlex. Mounted with an R21 World Cup interface, for perfect energy transmission. The metal inserts provide fast coupling and release of bindings for ski upkeep or frequent trips.
100% piste - 0% Off-piste - Rectangular Sandwich Construction – Metal reinforcement – Glass Fibre - Prop Tech. Petex 4000 Graphite base
