Rossignol S 80 review 2011

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

A good all-rounder, the Rossignol S80 is easy to handle, enjoyable and stable. It's a very good all-terrain ski, excellent for intermediary skiers and for vesatile on-piste skiing, yet equally at ease off the beaten tracks. This relatively flexible ski is better for lighter and average frames, and for skilled female skiers.

Review: Pros

  • You'll be surprised at how easy the Rossignol S80 is to handle and its accessibility. On the piste, the ski is well-balanced, reassuring, manoeuverable and globally enjoyable. Its versatility is a major advantage: it will carve, skid, slip and slide as and when the skier wishes. It handles well in freeride and is highly adaptable in all types of terrain.

Review: Cons

  • Relatively flexible, with a focus on accessibility and comfort, the S80's performance is nontheless limited. When "pushed", the ski reaches its limits pretty quickly, particularly at high speed on packed snow.

Manufacturer's remarks

This burly all-mountain freeride ski is designed for the Out-of-bounds enthusiasts. It features Rossignol\'s unique camber profile, \"AmpTek\". AmpTek Freeride, combines traditional camber underfoot delivering power, energy and edge grip with an early rise tip and tail that dramatically improves the turn initiation and flotation in any condition. A sandwiched construction, wood core, titanium laminates and 80mm waist, creates the perfect platform to excel in powder, crud and have amazing grip on the hardpack. If you are looking for one ski to go anywhere on the mountain, the S80 is the ultimate all-mountain tool for any snow condition and terrain.
