Elan 999 Alu review 2013

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

The 999 Alu is a relatively demanding ski that requires vigilance. It's a tool for an advanced skier looking for a well-balanced and versatile ski.

Review: Pros

  • Its delivery on the groomers is good overall, although we could give a special mention to its wide radius performance that's especially effective.
  • It's fun off-piste, and can cover all terrains, including the crud which it zips through. It gives an impression of safety and stability.

Review: Cons

  • The reviewers noted a certain inertia, especially in short turns. The ski doesn't bounce back and the skier has to make an effort to steady it.
  • Overall performance on and off piste was not as good as some of its rivals.
