Elan Ripstick review 2016

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

The Ripstick is a good ski for the groomers but unfortunately is less convincing than some of its rivals that are similar to racing skis. Despite this, it has many excellent qualities as long as you stick to intermediary speeds. It’s an enjoyable ski that we recommend for good to very good skiers looking for giant ski type sensations while remaining at reasonable speeds.

Review: Pros

  • A particularly playful and enjoyable ski.
  • Good performance overall as long as you stay on moderately dynamic trails and keep to intermediate speeds.

Review: Cons

  • The performance is less convincing at high speeds
  • In particular, the tip is too flexible and loses hold when it picks up too much speed

Manufacturer's remarks

The Ripstick is definitely one of the most playful giant skis on the market. It incorporates a concentration of cutting edge technologies such as the Powerspine, RST Sidewall, Laminated Woodcore and Dual Ti. It’s a highly responsive ski with good grip and exceptional stability. In addition, the Fusion bindings system, the first truly integrated bindings system in the world, provides softer flex and so a simpler passage from edge to edge.
